Religious Education Director/Coordinator

Position Open from September 2022

The Religious Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing the grade 1 to Confirmation 2 Religious Education program at Our Lady of Fatima in Highland Lakes. The program currently has 110+ students enrolled, with classes on Saturdays and Sundays. The position is part-time, reporting directly to the pastor.

Responsibilities include:

• Curriculum development for all grades, identifying textbooks and educational resources most applicable to the program’s needs.
• Key focus on the Sacramental preparation programs including scheduling of retreats, community service, parent meetings and program development.
• Recruitment, training, and support of all volunteers including catechists, classroom assistants, and other programs volunteers, ensuring they are well-advised of their responsibilities and providing a safe, secure environment for all.
• Onsite supervision of Sunday, Saturday class sessions.
• Creation of a welcoming environment for all, offering support and encouragement to students and their parents or guardians.
• Ongoing communications with the Diocese of Paterson, ensuring compliance with the Diocese's requirements, policies, and mandates.
• Regular meetings and communication with the pastor relating to the religious education program and sacramental preparation.
• Attendance at Diocese regional meetings, programs, and workshops, pertaining to Religious Educations guidelines and program development.

Requirements:

• A practicing Roman Catholic committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church and to the ministry of bringing Jesus’ sacred teachings to our children.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to use technology and social media to enhance and support teaching, learning, and communication efficiencies.
• The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree. Experience in Catholic religious education preferred and a willingness to avail of Diocesan Leadership training
